2025 Tire Regulations for Competitive Racing

  1. The American Racer tires and/or Hoosier tires will be the exclusive tires for Late Models (AR 955), Modified (AR-970), Street Stock (Hoosier Comanche), and Thunder Car (Hoosier Comanche) for 2025.
  2. It’s up to the driver/teams on how many new or used tires you own. We recommend you practice on tires other than your “race tires inventory.”
  3. “Race tires inventory” refers to the first (up to six) new or used tires per car/cars (for multi-car teams) that you register on a 3×5 index card and present to tech. Before qualifying at your first race of the season, you must write the serial numbers with car number(s) of up to six (6) new or used tires per car/cars for multi-car teams on a 3×5 index card and turn it in to tech.
  4. After the first race, only one new or used tire serial number can be added to your “race tires inventory” index card per race and turned in to tech before qualifying. It is the driver/team’s responsibility to turn in serial numbers each race before qualifying. So, we need an index card each race with only one tire serial number on it if buying one. You don’t have to put it on that race, but it needs to be in your inventory, or you’ll be behind on tires.
  5. Buying used tires from other teams is permitted, but if adding to your “race tires inventory,” it will be considered your one (1) new tire for that race. The serial number must be turned in before qualifying for the event used.
  6. Only the tires you qualify on will be permitted to race in the feature. If you have a flat or bust a tire before the feature, you can add a used tire out of your “race tires inventory.” You must turn in a new serial number and show the pit steward the used tire for verification before the feature; you will start at the tail of the feature. You can run heats on tires other than your qualifying tires that are in your inventory to avoid this.
  7. If you finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or you are the one extra random car picked to report to post-race tech, we will pull your “race tires inventory” index cards and check your tires for matching serial numbers. Any tire on the car and not in your “race tires inventory” will result in automatic disqualification, loss of all points for the day/night, and you will receive tow money for the day/night. No exceptions to this rule, so please report and verify everything in advance. If you have a flat or change a tire during the feature and go to post-race tech, we will OK your tire if it is a tire in your “race tires inventory” already. We reserve the right to take tire samples to be tested at a lab for various reasons at any time. If tires are found to be soaked, the driver will lose all points for the season, receive a four (4) race suspension (rainouts do not count), and will have a $500 fine to be paid before racing again.
  8. All tires, either mounted by the track tire crew or teams who mount tires themselves, must have baby powder inside them. Tires may be broken down for post-race inspection (feature). Any tire broken down for post-race inspection that does not have baby powder inside will result in the car/driver that the tire came off of being disqualified, losing all points for the day/night, and receiving tow money for the day/night. No exceptions to this rule.
  9. No recapped tires. No altering of sidewalls or tires in any way. No soaking or softening of any tire is permitted at any time or any place during the season. All tires must durometer within reasonable factory limits, hot or cold. If you believe someone is soaking tires, you can put up $100 per tire, and we will send tire samples to the lab for testing. We will keep your name anonymous. If you are right, you get your money back times four. If wrong, you lose the money you put up. If any tire sample is found to be soaked by the Blue Ridge Lab, that driver will be fined $500 plus suspended for the remainder of the season. The fine must be paid before the driver can come back to race. If this happens in any of the last 3 races of the season, the driver will be under suspension for the entire next season (2026).
  10. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cars, after the checkered flag is thrown, will stop at the bottom of the track at the start/finish line within one (1) lap to have tires durometered if ordered to do so on the race receiver.
  11. Any damaged, busted, or flat tires must be verified while still on the car or rim by the pit steward or tech official during practice, dash, or heat races, or after the feature, before leaving the track that day. Do not call us later or show up the next week saying you have a bad tire or a flat from the last race. No exceptions to this rule.
  12. Multi-car teams can only register up to six (6) new or used tires per car (car number) and one (1) new or used tire per race, per car, per car number. Tires off of a car number listed at the start of the season must remain with that car number and car only. If one (1) car is not to be raced anymore, then that car’s tires can be added to the remaining cars’ “race tires inventory,” one tire per race.
Please ask any questions if needed to make sure you understand these tire rules. We do not want to disqualify anyone, but we will be forced to do so if any of these tire rules are violated.
